Cutter brings 1/3 more capacity to high performance systems

A finger joint cutter with 8 teeth (Z8) has appeared on the market for the first time at LIGNA 2015, with the new "HS 196" mini finger joint cutter from Stehle. This cutter produces tight closing finger joints with 6/7 mm and 10/11 mm for longitudinal joints in coniferous wood.

This cutter enables a feed rate of more than 54 m/min in high performance finger joint cutting systems The higher feed rates can achieve a capacity increase of up to 33% over the previous Z6 design.

Compared to finger joint lengths of 10/11 mm, operations have up to 40% less waste and save up to 2% wood with the short finger joint length. Another advantage of shorter finger joint lengths is the lower cutting pressure. This allows companies to process even shorter scantlings without risk of "pulling in" to the machine.

The Stehle "Triathlon" coating of the fingers provides operators of high performance systems with about triple the edge life.

The new, coated "Z8" mini finger joint cutter is used when maximum performance and efficiency are demanded. High feed rate, long service life and flexibility of use, even for short woods, noticeably increase capacity per shift.
